New England Baptist Hospital's ties to sports medicine go back several decades. In the late 1950's Red Sox slugger Ted Williams came to the Baptist for treatment of a cervical disk problem. In the years since, world class and amateur athletes from a variety of sports have sought care from our sports medicine experts, including PGA legend Jack Nicklaus, who had his hip replaced at the Baptist in 1999.

Dr. Brian P. McKeon, Chief Medical Officer
Brian P. McKeon, M.D. assumed the role of Chief Medical Officer and Head Team Physician in 2005 after six years as serving as assistant team physician.
McKeon graduated Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut with a BS in Biology. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University's School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honors Society. He completed his residency and internship training through the University of Connecticut's Integrated Residency Program and a Sports Medicine Fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedics at the Tufts University School of Medicine and a Sports Medicine Fellowship Instructor at New England Baptist Hospital.
An internationally published author and presenter, McKeon is affiliated with a number of professional societies including the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine and the Professional Team Physician's Society. His primary area of research interest is in articular cartilage and he is currently participating in several clinical trials and funded research studies in that area.
Brian, his wife Heidi, and their two daughters, Molly and Nell, live in Essex, MA.
